Club Kit
Posted: Saturday, January 19, 2008 12:56 PM (PST)
I was wondering what the level of intrest is in Tri Club cycling kit? I enter a one or two cyclosportives each season and had a bash at a couple of TLI rod races and would like to be able to wear club colours at those events and races and on all those training rides in the Peaks. I've seen a number of other tri clubs with cycling kit and i'm always a little fustrated people can't see who my team is and that we can hold our own against the 'roadies'!!! What do other people think, i'm really surprised that other club members wouldn't want to show their colours in training and in competition whether that is triathlons, bike races or running races?

Club kit is generally an issue and nobody seems to be wanting to sort it out. The new summer racing kit is inadequate - low cost does not equal good quality. I'd be more than happy to wear more club kit, it would be great to show others who we are affiliated to. However, I'm not prepared to wear poor quality stuff - I want to be warm and comfortable on the bike. We haven't even been able to get it together to get hoodies to wear before races so what hope is there for a full cycling kit. Talk to the lads at James' they too are a little puzzled by all this club kit stuff!! Sorry to rant but I tried a similar post not so long ago and got little response.

You're right to say that we need training and racing clothing and right to say someone needs to sort it out. But the bottom line is this; the club is run by a handful of people who organise and staff the coached sessions (track, turbo, Graves), the Westfield races, the Fairholmes races, and are already planning the Hathersage Hilly 2008. I think I can speak for most committee members when I say that we'd all love to see some good kit. But like everything, it takes time and it needs volunteers. If anybody would like to run with this, then I'm sure your help will be really appreciated. I'd suggest at least two people, male and female, pool their ideas and come to the next committee meeting. Is there anybody out there ..... ?

Bob, I'll throw my hat into the ring, I'll catch up with you at the next turbo session and have a chat about what historical info we have, time scales and all that good stuff. So, seeing as I'm the bloke is there a female member out there wiling spend some time on this?

I'm up for this also. Our kids go to City of Sheffield AC Young athletes section and they don't hold any kit. If you want kit, you ring up the manufacturer and order direct quoting reference xyz or whatever(free post on over £50 thus encouraging upsell). Also, it means that no-one is left with 10 small ladies kits or whatever in their garage. I will find out more when they go tomorrow. Vicky/Chris you can email me at jonathan@ removethisfornospam sharp-end-training.co.uk I also realised that because I use the firefox browser, it removes all the formating from my post and I look like a babbling fool...
