STC Website Known Issues

This post hopes to list STC Website Known Errors/Issues (KEs) and their work arounds and/or fixes.
- Secured items (e.g. Committee & Membership hosted items) seem to be accessible from non-secured sections - web boxes on right, topics (top) & search.Workaround: Do not add a topic to secured items. (nevans-mudie)
- Secured items (e.g. Committee & Membership hosted items) seem to be visible if navigated to directly. Workaround: DO NOT give out links (URLs) to individual secured items - give a URL to the item's section only i.e. to 'Home > Membership > Downloads' as this forces security to be applied. (nevans-mudie)
- Spaces in username seem to cause problems when logging in. Workaround: DO NOT use spaces in usernames (and for that matter passwords). (nevans-mudie)
- Session can time out when attempting to add or edit an STC website item. Workaround: Save regularly and before clicking Submit copy your main content to clipboard or to a document. That way if u do time out you can simply copy and paste your work back from either clipboard or document in to the STC website form. Saving u loads of frustration. (nevans-mudie)
- Wide content seems to have altered the website layout so that annoying horizontal scrolling is needed (aswell as the more acceptable vertical scrolling). Resolved: Altered the Topic Menu layout (reduced separator to a single no breaking space in Topic_TopicMenu.ascx) and related SP (Community_TopicsGetLatestTopics) changed Top 50 clause to Top 12. A knock on issue in that all 12 latest Topics do not seem to get pulled through to the Topic Menu but this a lesser issue than excessive horizontal scrolling across the whole website. (nevans-mudie)
- Notification links sometimes don't work and may give an error like:
The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested Url: /Community/Forum/WebsiteAuthoringTechStuff/0.aspx
This is an intermittent bug in the website framework code. Note that the last part of the link '0.aspx' is pointing to a web article that can not exist (article numbers have to be greater than 0). Workaround: In your browser address bar replace the last (broken) portion of the link with default.aspx (i.e. link should now read '/Community/Forum/WebsiteAuthoringTechStuff/default.aspx'), then press ENTER (or, in Microsoft Internet Explorer click 'Go'). This will take you the parent section of the content item that you are being notified about and from there you may browse to the content you are interested in.

Triathlon Training: For Peak Performance, 3 Is Not Better Than 1

MUSCLES: Are yours healthy?
