Update 21 May 2015: These sessions will be held at Southbourne Building, 37 Clarkehouse Rd, Sheffield S10 2LD.
Strength and Conditioning – surely the most overlooked aspect of the triathlon training programme, and arguably just as important as the swim, bike and run sections, and even more so in terms of injury prevention and long term performance.
We are looking to bring back a regular S&C session, and have been in touch with Dave Hembrough at Sheffield Hallam University Centre for Sport and Exercise Science. More details about Dave and his background can be found on the link: https://www4.shu.ac.uk/research/cses/about-us/dave-hembrough
The initial proposal is to run a specific Sheffield Triathlon Club members S&C session on Thursday 24th May 2018, with up to 2 sessions on the night at 6pm and 7:30pm if the interest is great enough.
The objectives of this initial workshop would be to explore Strength and Conditioning practices to avoid/reduce injury and to enhance performance. This would include some basic mobility and soft tissue care, robustness training, strength training and power/plyometric activities too.
The longer term aim is to run a weekly 90 minute session on a Thursday evening, but we would need to ensure this is viable for both ourselves and Dave first. With that in mind, if you can register your interest in attending on Thursday 24th May so we can gauge numbers and we will follow up with more details in due course.
Please respond to firstname.lastname@example.org, or on our Facebook group if you can attend the session on 24 May 2018, and let us know what time works for you.
