Hi, I am Cerys, husband to my long suffering wife Joanna and proud dad to my two future Ice Swimmers/Triathletes, Jacob and Oliver. I was born in Gibraltar but have lived most of my life in England and after coming to Sheffield for my degree, have stayed ever since.
I swam competitively from the age of 7 until I was 16. I then moved on to play Water Polo for four years. I qualified as a lifeguard whilst at sixth form and spent 7 years working at my local pool in Norfolk and then Ponds Forge International Sports centre whilst at University.
After my 35th Birthday I decided I needed to get back into sport. Always being a keen cyclist and swimmer, Triathlon was where I decided to go. The aim was to complete an Ironman before my 40th birthday. To assist in this I joined the club. I completed Ironman UK within a year and also qualified to represent Great Britain at the European Long Course Age Group Triathlon Championships in Weymouth with a good performance at Ironman 70.3 Staffs. It was a proud day putting on the kit and representing the country!
I have gone on to complete an Ice Mile, represent GB again at Middle distance and also at the World Gran Fondo Championships after taking a step back from Triathlon and concentrating on cycling.
Now it is time to give back to the sport that has offered me so many opportunities I never dreamt of. You will find me coaching at the Junior Sessions (generally avoiding coaching my own children) and I am also on the Club Committee as Website Officer
